After discussions and a comprehensive inspection of your premises we would prepare the necessary policies & procedures. These would be bespoke to your particular requirements and written in a clear and easy to understand format using your corporate identity.
These can range from a simple inspection to a comprehensive safety audit of your company. This would identify safety issues and make recommendations that are both practical and cost-effective if found to be required.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have produced a guidance document entitled “Successful Health and Safety Management” (HSG65). This document provides advice on how health and safety should be managed, in large organisations particularly. A key element covered is audit. It stresses the importance of auditing the organisation to ensure that its safety management system is maintained and is not declining. The advice given in HSG65 will be used by the HSE inspectors when checking an organisation’s arrangements for managing health and safety.
Having its own audits also enables a company to satisfy itself that their own Health and Safety Policy requirements are being implemented.
TDS can assist you in preparing and undertaking all types of risk assessment. We can train your staff so that they can develop their own ability in risk assessment skills, letting the people who do the tasks assess the risk involved in what they do.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 employers are legally obliged to undertake a fire risk assessment in their premises.
A fire risk assessment helps you identify all the fire hazards and risks in your premises and decide on suitable precautions for controlling the risks. As well as looking at the fire risks the process will look at the adequacy of your fire precautions and evacuation procedures.
TDS Training can arrange for our qualified fire safety practitioner to undertake a fully compliant fire risk assessment at your premises. A detailed report together with cost effective recommendations will be forwarded after the visit. Read more about fire safety requirements and fire risk assessments.
DSE assessments will be carried out initially by use of an on line questionnaire to help identify any ergonomic problems. If required an onsite visit can be made and recommendations to any problems found with simple, cost effective solutions. Ensuring that employees are aware of how to set up their workstations correctly is also part of our remit. Read more about DSE assessments here.
We can assist you in assessing your manual handling tasks and identify major risk areas that could lead to injury. The manual handling assessment process will help to reduce risks by finding better and often more efficient ways of doing the work.
Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations all employers and self-employed people are required to have available and to use competent safety advice.
TDS have a retained client package which has been developed for those companies who do not have an in-house competent person, but want to have easy and ready access to a safety advisor.
As in all walks of life unplanned events can have a shattering effect. For businesses it is just the same. An unforeseen crisis could make it very difficult for your business to operate and at its extreme close you down.
Problems, for instance IT system failure, the illness of key staff, a fire or flood or even a burglary could make it difficult or even impossible to carry out your normal day-to-day activities.
The effect on the business with the potential lose of customers whilst not being able to trade, the consequences on staff and suppliers even your relationship with the bank all depend upon good prior planning.
With good planning you can reduce the potential impact of a disaster with a view to prevention in the first instance.
Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is significant especially for small businesses that may not have the resources to withstand a crisis.
TDS can assist you in identifying the potential risks, how to plan for emergencies and show how your business would cope with a disaster.
